Woestijnroos.
Een woestijnroos (ook wel zandroos genoemd) is een mengvorm van het mineraal gips en zandkorrels die zijn ingebed in het kristalrooster van dat mineraal.
Woestijnrozen worden ook wel gevormd met bariet. Het is geen zuiver mineraal
en in strikte zin ook geen gesteente. Sommigen menen dat het toch het best
onder gesteente in te delen valt. Woestijnrozen worden gevormd in woestijnen
waar grondwater door capillaire werking aan het oppervlak komt en daar snel
verdampt. Het grondwater moet bovendien de juiste mineralen (gips en/of
bariet) bevatten die achterblijven waar het water verdampt. Woestijnrozen zijn
geliefde objecten onder de verzamelaars van mineralen. Healers dichten heilzame werkingen aan de woestijnroos toe. Zo zou de woestijnroos helpen tegen
straling en het bewustzijn uit het hart verbeteren. De mooiste komt uit de
Sahara in Tunesië. Woestijnroos lost op in water en is zeer zacht en makkelijk te
beschadigen.

Desert Rose
A desert rose (also referred to as sand rose) is a mixed form of the mineral
gypsum and sand grains that are embedded into the crystalline lattice of said
mineral. Desert Rose are also formed with barite. It is not a pure mineral and
