With sadness I received the news of the tragic accident on Saturday

BRIEF VAN BISSCHOP ROTTERDAM
Met verdriet heb ik kennis genomen van het tragische ongeval op zaterdag 10
april jl. waarbij de president van Polen, president Kaczynski,
en zijn
echtgenote, alsmede vele gezagsdragers en bestuurders van de Poolse Republiek
zijn omgekomen. Mede namens het bisdombestuur condoleer ik de leden van de
Poolse gemeenschap in Nederland met dit grote verlies.
Het verband van dit ongeluk met de herdenking van een van de meest tragische
gebeurtenissen uit de Poolse geschiedenis stemt tot bezinning. Ik bid met u
voor de toekomst van het zo zwaar getroffen Poolse land.
Tot mijn spijt kan ik niet aanwezig zijn bij de herdenkingsviering, vandaag,
vrijdag 16 april 2010, in Den Haag. Ik zal echter in gebed met u verbonden
zijn. Moge de Heer van alle leven de overledenen opnemen in het mysterie van
eeuwig leven bij Hem, op voorspraak van Onze Lieve Vrouw van Czestochowa.

Ze smutkiem przyjąłem wiadomość o tragicznej katastrofie, która wydarzyła się w
sobotę 10 kwietnia br., i w której zginęli Prezydent Polski L.Kaczyński, Jego
Małżonka oraz przedstawiciele władz Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. W związku z tą
stratą, składam w imieniu Kurii Biskupiej Polakom mieszkającym w Holandii nasze
kondolencje.
Do głębokich przemyśleń skłania fakt, że ten tragiczny wypadek zbiegł się z
obchodami jednej z największych tragedii w polskiej historii. Modlę się z Wami
za przyszłość ciężko doświadczonej Polski.
Niestety nie mogę być obecny na dzisiejszej mszy żałobnej. Będę z Wami
jednoczył się w modlitwie. Niech Bóg przyjmie dusze zmarłych do tajemnicy
wiecznego życia w Bogu oddając je w opiekę Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej.

LETTER BY BISHOP OF ROTTERDAM
With sadness I received the news of the tragic accident on Saturday, April 10th,
taking the lives of the President of Poland, President Kaczynski and His
Spouse, and many officials and directors of the Republic of Poland.
Also on
behalf of the diocesan administration I offer you my condolences and to all the
members of the Polish community in the Netherlands with this great loss.
The relationship of this accident to the commemoration of one of the most
tragic events in Polish history gives cause for reflection. I pray with you for
the future of your beloved Poland that suffered so much.
To my regret I cannot attend the memorial celebration, today (Friday, April 16,
2010) in The Hague. However, I will pray with you in my heart.
May the Lord of the Living receive all the deceased in the mystery of eternal
life with Him, through the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa.
