The 1996 Dutch Championship 24 hours (walking and running)
in Schiedam
Since no atletics club in the Netherland was able to host a N.K. (Dutch Championship) 24 hours running, the
R.W.V. (Rotterdam Walking Club) was asked to help out, because they would also be organizing an 24 hours
walk in Schiedam that year. The R.W.V. made it an event in which walkers could also participate and possibly
win medals. I leave it up to the reader of this page to ascertain who won which medal in the following categories:

Men (between 20 and 40 years of age)
Men M40 (between 40 and 50 years of age)
Men M50 (50 years and older)
Interresting fact remains that the atletics clubs have never since agreed on organizing a combined 24 hours
walk. Maybe that is due to the fact that the walkers took 7 out of 12 medals. These are the results of the 24
hours race in the Beatrixpark in Schiedam on the 18th and 19th of May 1996.
