You should select those courses that are part of your program and your specialisation. For the base courses, see below. Which variants for Basic courses for which specialisation Below you can find an overview of the basic courses and the recommendations per specialisation. When you change your specialisation (or major) during the Bachelor, it is possible you followed an other Basic Course. Speak to your lecturer or coach in this case, because it is possible you have to gain some additional knowledge to succesfully complete your new specialisation (or major). http://w3.tue.nl/en/education/tue_bachelor_college/basic_courses/ PT Robotics Bouw ICT Q1 2WBB0 2WAB0 2WAB0 SI Energy NL Energy EN Living Smart Systems 2WBB0 2WBB0 2WAB0 2WAB0 Q2 3NBB0 3NAB0 3NAB0 Q3 0LAB0 0LBB0 0LBB0 Q4 0SAB0 0SAB0 0SAB0 Q5 7NAB0 7NBB0 7NCB0 3NCB0 3NBB0 3NAB0 3NAB0 0LAB0 0LAB0 0LBB0 0LBB0 0SAB0 0SAB0 0SAB0 0SAB0 7NAB0 7NAB0 7NBB0 7NAB0 Q1 2WAB0 Calculus Variant A 2WBB0 Calculus Variant B Q2 3NAB0 Physics applied 3NBB0 Physics formal 3NCB0 Physics stromings variant Q3 0LAB0: Modeling - Dynamic Systems 0LBB0: Modeling - datamodeling 0LCB0: Modeling - Process Modeling 0LDB0: Modeling: Modeling from Scratch Q4 USAB0 USE Q5 (=Q2.1) 7NAB0: Design - High Tech Systems (fac EE) 7NBB0: Design - Integral Design (fac Bwk) 7NCB0: Design - Design for Social Innovation (fac ID). Planning of USE learning lines A USE learning line consists of three courses. The first and second course is scheduled in two consecutive quartiles, the third course (a project) is scheduled twice a year, i.e. in the quartiles the first and second courses are not scheduled. Learning Line 1. 2. 3. 4. The Human in Technology Decision under Risk and Uncertainty The Secret Life of Light Patents, Design Rights and Standards Start first course Q1 Q1 Q1 Q1 5. Technology Entrepreneurship 6. Customer Centricity and the Design of Winning Products 7. The Future of Mobility Q2 Q2 Q2 8. Quality of Life 9. Design for a Sustainable Future 10. Robots Everywhere Q3 Q3 Q3 How often are USE electives offered? To reduce planning issues, it is decided that all USE learning lines offer the third course in two quartiles at least. More detailed information will be available in oase and the planning app. When is the final project BEP scheduled? The first opportunity to start BEP is Q3-Q4 in 2014-2015. This is still not formally decided yet, though we count on the scheduling of BEP twice a year. To start with BEP you need to pass your first year (propedeuse) first. In principle Bep is scheduled for an entire semester, this is two quaertiles. Please note that this is not correctly shown in the planninig app. When do I need to motivate my choice of electives for the Exam Committee? Only if your choice does not meet the requirement of at least 25 ects in two elective packages. There is only a small set of electives in Q1 2013-2014, what should I do? This is true. Many packages require prior knowledge from major courses in the second year. Starting in Q1 of your third year, the set f electives is better. We recommend to start with a USE learning line in year 2. Are four courses in a quartile allowed? Yes. Are two courses in a single timeslot allowed? It is not prohibited, but not recommended at all! You should participate actively in both courses, which is a problem in case of overlapping hours. Teachers don’t take planning of other courses in the same timeslot into account when scheduling intermediate tests, presentations, etc. Planning of final tests do not consider these issues as well. What should be the size of the entire studyload? The package should include 180 etcs. More is allowd, provided that the Exam Committee agrees with your proposal. It is possible to subscribe for a course if it is part of your study package. The extra ects credits are no part of the package and are not considered as an ‘exam package’. So you are welcome to do more than 180 ects, but the exam committee needs toagree and it should be part of your study package. Is it possible to do two majors? Yes, this is possible. Submit your proposal to the Exam Committee if this is an option for you. Please take into account that ‘bi-diplomering’, i.e. two bachelor degrees, requires a total study load of at least 225 ects. For SI-students: Is it possible to continue with the master Sustainable Energy Technology (SET)? Yes, dependent on the technical variant you have chosen and the electives your are selecting. The acceptantce committee of the matser SET has not formally agreed yet, but we expect the following requirements: For Sustainable Energy NL One out of two of the energy elective packages TN TN TN WTB WTB WTB Energie Energie Energie Ontwerpen van Energiesystemen (OES) Ontwerpen van Energiesystemen (OES) Ontwerpen van Energiesystemen (OES) 3DEX0 3EPX0 4BC00 Fysica van de nieuwe energie: bronnen, transport en opslag Energieproject Chemisch reagerende stromingen 1.2 2.4 3.4 E A E 3FTX0 Turbulentie, golven en instabiliteiten 3.3 A 4BC00 Chemisch reagerende stromingen 3.4 E 4PC00 Technische warmte en stromingsleer 3.2 E 5SEA0 5EWB0 Electrical energy phenomena and relations Electrical Power Systems 2.1 B 2.2/3.2 B And two courses EE: EE EE For Sustainable Energy EN One course EE: EE 5EWB0 Electrical Power Systems 2.2/3.2 B 5APA0 Power Electronics 3.3 A 5XSB0 Signal Analysis and Estimation Power system analysis and optimization 3.2 E 3.4 E And recommended or required EE EE EE Smart and Sustainable Society Smart and Sustainable Society Smart and Sustainable Society 5XWA0
